Transgender-Inclusive Sanitation: Insights from South Asia

Reaffirming the UN SDG vision of ‘leaving no one behind’, this paper highlights the challenges faced by gender minorities, specifically the transgender community, in accessing WASH within South Asia. The paper analyses past reports and states several case studies to raise awareness about the diverse identities within the community while highlighting their needs and aspirations-. The paper highlights that access to sanitation cannot be separated from daily experiences of stigma and marginalization and puts across recommendations for practitioners accordingly.
