Global Gender Gap Report 2021

The Global Gender Gap Index maps out different dimensions of gender-based gaps in different countries and tracks their progress over time. The four key dimensions are- Economic Participation and Opportunity, Educational Attainment, Health and Survival, and Political Empowerment.
In 2021, 156 countries were covered as a part of the report. Some of its key findings are:

  • It will take 135.6 years to close the gender gap worldwide.
  • The gender gap in Political Empowerment remains the largest of the four gaps tracked, with only 22% closed to date.
  • It will take another 267.6 years to close the gender gap in Economic Participation and opportunity.
  • Gender gaps in Educational Attainment and Health and Survival have improved significantly.
