“The dataset is from the World report on Disability, Technical appendix A: Estimates of disability prevalence (%) and of years of health lost due to disability (YLD), by country. The dataset lists data from 193 countries, where Afghanistan stands with the highest percentage of years lost due to disability i.e 15.5%, while Japan stands at the lowest with 5.5%. The data is particularly relevant especially when the disability data gap has been widely reported during the pandemic, leading to serious consequences of lack of visibility in health campaigns and policy design. Many disability rights activists have expressed concerns over the lack of data, and this dataset–although slightly dated could be a good reference point.”
