The Disability and Development Report helps understand the status of various SDGs from a disability framework, while also highlighting the challenges that exist for the same.
Traditional as well as multidimensional poverty indicators point towards a direct corelation between poverty and disability. While the poverty gap might not be uniform, studies indicate that these households or individuals experience multiple deprivations, including terms of employment, healthcare access, access to education, living conditions etc. While social protection programmes can be pushed for, the need to engage in mass sensitizatization, improved access and constant evaluation is necessary and urgent.
